Acceptance of these terms

These terms govern your use of sahajtools.com (“SahajTools”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Description of the service

SahajTools provides free, web-based statistics calculators together with explanatory content. The site is organised as a directory of calculators grouped into categories. It needs no account, and calculations run in your browser.

Calculators are being added over time. A page marked “Coming soon” is a placeholder and not a working tool. We may add, change or remove calculators and content as the site develops.

Permitted use

You may use the site for personal, educational and professional purposes, free of charge. You may link to any page, and you may use and share the results you generate, subject to the rest of these terms. If you cite a calculator, please link to its page.

Where a calculator offers an embed code, you may place that embed on your own site using the code as provided, including the attribution link back to the calculator's page on sahajtools.com. Please do not alter the embed to remove or hide the attribution, or present the calculator as your own tool. We may change or discontinue an embeddable calculator, or the embed feature itself, at any time.

Calculator results and estimates

Calculator results depend on the values you enter and the options you choose. Keep the following in mind whenever you use them:

• Inputs decide the output. If an input is wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for the method, the result can be wrong even though the calculation itself is correct.
• Some results are estimates. Probabilities, confidence intervals, forecasts and fitted models describe likelihoods and approximations. They are not guarantees about any particular outcome.
• Methods and conventions differ. Statistics often has more than one accepted approach, such as the different definitions of a quartile. Each calculator states the method it uses, and other software may give a different but equally valid answer.
• Numbers are rounded. Results are displayed to a limited number of digits, and computers store decimals approximately, so very large, very small or nearly equal values can show small rounding differences.
• Statistical significance is not proof. A p-value or a significant result does not by itself show that an effect is real, important, or caused by what you think caused it.

Accuracy and limitations

We check each calculator's formula against reliable references and test it against known examples before publishing it. Even so, we do not warrant that any calculator or page is free of errors, complete, or suitable for a particular purpose. Explanations may be simplified for teaching, and they may not cover every case or assumption.

Calculators cannot tell whether your data meets the assumptions of a method, for example independence, random sampling or an approximately normal distribution. Checking that is your job, or that of an appropriate professional.

Your responsibility and reliance on results

You are responsible for:

• checking that the values you enter are correct;
• choosing a method that suits your data and your question;
• checking results before relying on them; and
• how you use or share the results.

Results and content on the site are for information and education. They are not statistical, medical, legal, financial, engineering or scientific advice, and using the site does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

Do not rely on a calculator alone for decisions where an error could cause harm or serious loss, such as clinical decisions, safety-critical or engineering work, legal or regulatory filings, financial commitments, or research you intend to publish. Verify the result independently, for example with dedicated statistical software, and involve a qualified professional.

If you use the site for coursework, follow your institution's rules on which tools are permitted.

Intellectual property

The site's text, page design, code, logo and name belong to SahajTools unless stated otherwise. The statistical formulas themselves are standard mathematical methods and are not ours to own. What we own is our particular expression of them: the wording, layout, code and branding.

You may view the site, link to it, and quote short excerpts with attribution. Please do not copy or republish substantial parts of its content, design or code as your own without our written permission. The results you calculate are yours to use.

The site uses the open-source fonts Inter and Newsreader, which their authors license under the SIL Open Font License. Names and trademarks of other products or organisations mentioned on the site belong to their owners.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the site without owing you anything for them.

Website content

Articles, explanations and examples on the site are general educational material. They may be simplified, may become out of date, and may contain mistakes. References to external sources are provided for convenience, and the authors of those sources own their work.

Prohibited activities

You agree not to:

• use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass, defraud or mislead others;
• overload or disrupt the site, including with automated requests at a rate that affects other visitors (ordinary search engine crawling is fine, and robots.txt states our preferences);
• try to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting or other systems, or test them for weaknesses without our permission;
• copy or republish substantial parts of the site as your own, or remove copyright and branding notices; or
• present results or content as endorsed, verified or certified by SahajTools, or otherwise misrepresent your connection to us.

If you find a security problem, please email us instead of exploiting it. We may restrict access for anyone who breaks these rules.

Third-party services and links

The site is delivered through third-party services, listed in the Privacy Policy, and may link to other websites. Some pages also show advertisements served by Google AdSense. We do not control those services, sites or advertisers, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content or practices. Their own terms apply when you use them.

Availability and service changes

The site is free, and we do not guarantee that it will always be available or uninterrupted. It may be unavailable because of maintenance, faults or events outside our control. We may change, suspend or discontinue any calculator, page or feature at any time, and page addresses may change.

Errors and corrections

If you think a calculator or page contains an error, please email sahajtools@gmail.com with the page address, the values you entered and the result you expected. We review reports and correct errors as we judge appropriate, but we are not obliged to do so or to notify people who used a calculator earlier. Correcting a calculator does not change results you obtained before the correction.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, the site and its calculators are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability or non-infringement.

Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so part of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here affects rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising from your use of the site, your inability to use it, or your reliance on a calculator result or other content. Because the site is free, our total liability for any claim connected with it is limited to the amount you have paid us to use it, which is nothing.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or rights you have as a consumer.

Indemnification

If your unlawful use of the site, or your breach of these terms, leads to a claim against us by a third party, you agree to be responsible for the resulting losses and reasonable costs, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply where the law does not permit it, including in some consumer situations.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, please stop using the site.

General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about your use of the site. If a part of them is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. Headings are for convenience and do not affect meaning.
